The paintings shown in “Hold Fast to the Unordinary” are a special series of figures celebrating the beauty and oddness (the unordinary) in us all. The figures all have whimsical, statuesque, and enigmatic qualities which challenge what we call "normal." Constance has wanted to create an emotional connection between the viewer and the painting. Bringing together the moods of joy and melancholy, so that one is drawn in to reflecting upon the balance each emotion holds within the particular character portrayed.
There is a progression from Constance’s first solo show in June last year, she has explored emotion, not only through the image and distorted proportions of the personalties on the canvas, but with the use of colour. She has used a distinct and unique colour palette for each painting, with a burst of different colours exploding onto the facial features and clothing.
The series includes both large and small framed paintings, together with some studies and sketches which have inspired the works.
She has been delighted to celebrate this new series with HOLD FAST as it is part of her philosophy that we should all hold fast to everything that makes each of us unique, celebrating the joy and diversity of humanity.
