Symphony of Personalities, Constance Anne's first solo show. A celebration of characters and personalities that have lived in Constance’s imagination.
The paintings celebrate characters that are distinctive, enigmatic, but elegant. There is a deliberate distortion of the face and body using strong lines with statuesque contortions. Her portraits all share whimsical expressions developed to evoke a sense of feeling and mood and to question what the character is feeling and why; where have they been; what have they been doing? Are they happy or sad, or do they share the cocktail of conflicting emotions that living life brings? Her paintings display both vibrant and muted colour palettes which assist to create mood with the enigma of joy and sadness combined. Her signatures can be found in two forms: in focus (emphasis on the face) or in perspective (figures are more posed, in context or referencing a story or feeling). Shape, lines and geometric marks are a key element of her paintings.
